Board Test
The type of board test rating that measures the strength of the box. The most common ratings are the Edge Crush Test (ECT) that measures the durability of the box edges for stacking strength, and the 200# Mullen Test that measures bursting strength.
32 ECT withstands an edge crush force of 32 lbs./in.
200# withstands up to 200 psi of bursting pressure and is stronger than a 32 ECT rated box.
44 ECT withstands an edge crush force of 44 lbs./in.
48 ECT withstands an edge crush force of 48 lbs./in.
71 ECTwithstands an edge crush force of 71 lbs./in.
90 ECT withstands an edge crush force of 90 lbs./in.
Wall Type
Single Wall – is made of one fluted layer of paper glued between outer linerboards for supporting lightweight items.
Double Wall – is made of two layers of fluted paper glued between outer and inner linerboards for supporting rough-edged and heavy items.
Triple Wall – is made of three layers of fluted paper glued between outer and inner linerboards for supporting extra-heavy items such as motors and metal parts.
